Custom Steel Fab has been awarded a major project in Townsville and is excited to offer an outstanding opportunity for an experienced Construction Project Manager to join our team.

Location: Townsville (Local Position)
Remuneration: Highly competitive package based on experience and proven delivery.

We're a steel construction company servicing the construction and mining industries, looking for a genuine leader—someone who can coordinate multiple crews, maintain high standards, and keep projects moving without compromising safety or quality.

What You'll Be Responsible For

• End-to-end project delivery with responsibility for safety, programme, cost, quality, and client outcomes.

• Full project budgeting, cost control, forecasting, and financial management, including regular reporting of project costs, cost-to-complete forecasts, cash flow, and projected profit margins to the General Manager.

• Monitor project performance against budget and programme, proactively identifying risks and implementing corrective actions to protect profitability and successful project outcomes.

• Lead teams of 10 to 40+ boilermakers and construction personnel across multiple crews and work fronts.

• Construction planning and execution, including look-ahead planning, sequencing, and daily production targets.

• Manage RFIs and revision control, ensuring all client design reviews, models, shop drawings, and IFC documentation are accurately tracked and implemented.

• Build and maintain strong client relationships through clear communication, reporting, and proactive risk management.

• Manage the end-to-end engagement of suppliers and subcontractors, including procurement, tendering, negotiations, preparation and administration of subcontract agreements, contract management, performance management, progress claims, variations, and ongoing commercial oversight.

• Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.

• Coordinate labour, materials, equipment, cranes, access requirements, permits, and subcontractor resources to ensure efficient project execution.

• Build and lead a high-performing team culture focused on accountability, performance, professionalism, and respect.

• Drive safe, efficient project delivery while maintaining the highest standards of quality and workmanship.

What We Need From You (Non-Negotiables)

• Proven experience as a Construction Project Manager delivering complex construction projects.

• Demonstrated history of successfully leading teams of 10 to 40+ personnel in live construction environments.

• Strong commercial, financial, and contractual management capability.

• Strong leadership, communication, organisational, and decision-making skills under pressure.

• A genuine commitment to safety leadership—you lead safety by example, not by delegation.

• A verifiable track record of successful project delivery, with references available.

• Experience using Simpro for project management, job costing, scheduling, and reporting.

• Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills
