The QSA IT Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of cross-functional IT projects for Quanta Services Australia (QSA), spanning infrastructure, enterprise applications, security, cyber security and acquisition (M&A) integration initiatives across the Australian operating units. The role ensures projects are delivered to a high standard, on time, within budget, and with a clearly articulated scope and quantifiable business benefit.
Working closely with business and technical leadership, the QSA IT Project Manager manages project scope, schedule, budget, resources, risks and issues in line with QSA methodology, policy and procedures. The role serves as a trusted point of contact for stakeholders, translating business needs into project outcomes and fostering coordination across architects, engineers, operations and third-party partners.
The immediate focus of this role is upon managing the end-to-end transition & integration of new companies into the QSA group. The role plans and co-ordinates the IT technical activities required to achieve system and process integration. This role manages the delivery of Australian based delivery functions and also co-ordinates with parent resources located within the United States to achieve delivery outcomes.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Manage the overall execution and delivery of assigned projects following QSA methodology, policy and procedures.
Manage project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
Build and maintain project plans, schedules and resource plans to meet project requirements and success criteria.
Implement and manage changes and interventions to ensure project goals are achieved, minimising the impact of change on delivery.
Coordinate the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to plan.
Ensure end-user needs are met to drive adoption and realise the intended business benefits.
Gather, track and document project requirements and success criteria from all stakeholders, obtaining formal sign-off.
Maintain and update project budget, forecast and financials throughout the project life cycle.
Manage multiple priorities effectively under tight deadlines while maintaining strong integrity and a problem-solving approach.
Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion, including executive-level communication.
Hold regular stakeholder and steering committee meetings to keep all interested parties updated on project progress.
Act as a liaison between architects, engineers and operations, fostering communication and ensuring cross-team coordination.
Create communication and organisational change management plans as needed to support project needs.
Manage project risks and issue resolution, and appropriately escalate delivery impediments, including engaging the wider company network for resolution.
Create and manage the project test plan and assist in developing test cases to meet quality assurance objectives based on scope and requirements.
Conduct project retrospectives and produce a lessons learned report to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
Maintain relevant metrics that help the team track performance (project plan, status reporting, resource planning, burndown, etc.).
Manage the procurement of project-related hardware, software and services.
Coordinate and manage the performance of vendors, contractors and consultants engaged on the project
Successful candidates will have the following knowledge and experience:
Tertiary qualification (Diploma or Degree) in Computer Science, Information Technology or other relevant technical discipline.
Minimum 8 years of experience in the IT industry in a project management capacity
Project management certification preferred — PRINCE2, PMP, and/or Agile / Scrum Master certifications.
Operational domain knowledge of IT infrastructure (networks, servers, data centre), enterprise applications and integrations.
Direct experience implementing cloud services (e.g. Microsoft Azure / M365).
Experience delivering projects within a structured PMO methodology, governance and reporting framework.
Exposure to ERP (e.g. IFS Cloud), ServiceNow, and enterprise integration platforms desirable.
Exposure to acquisition (M&A) IT integration and cybersecurity / compliance initiatives desirable.
Advanced Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel and SharePoint skills.
Demonstrated excellent communication and client focus, with the ability to translate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong planning, organisational, interpersonal and communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
Initiative and follow-up skills with a proactive, problem-solving approach.
